DTSB&Co In Concert Series

Over the next few months we will be adding videos of DTSB&Co performances with interviews with choreographer Dana Tai Soon Burgess, dancers and collaborators. Get an inside look at the creative process.

This week we feature Hyphen which premiered in October 2008.

 

This music video is the culminating project of our fall Asian American Youth Program which occurred over 14 weeks. The participants explored the concept of self-expression and identity.  They wrote, sang and appear in the video. We are so proud of the students. We begin our next program in mid-January, stand by for more details and their future projects.

Dana was also listed as a famous and influential local in the Korean Beacon's spotlight on Washington, DC
   
• An interview with Dana about his new work Becoming American and common themes in his art appears in the Arts Desk blog in the Washington City Paper.

   

• Dana's performance at Dance Place was previewed as an Editors' Pick in the Washington Post's Going Out Guide.

   

• Dana was interviewed in Express about his new work Becoming American and about life as an artist in DC.

   

• DTSB&Co was featured in two articles in The Washington Diplomat, one on the company's international travels and the other on Dana's new work Becoming American.

   

• Dana Tai Soon Burgess and his company are both featured at the I Am Korean American website, an on-going web project that aims to collect brief profiles of Korean Americans.

   

• Dana Tai Soon Burgess is featured in a portrait project by Korean American photographer Cindy Hwang that is included in the exhibit Portraiture Now: Asian American Portraits of Encounter now on display at the National Portrait Gallery. The exhibit was reviewed recently by the Washington Post.
