From the Director:
May 2005: It was wonderful to perform at the Asia Society in NY. We still think of NY as the modern dance capital and the audiences curated at the NY Asia Society are very sophisticated. They understood the cultural context of our work Tracings and were very appreciative. The company performed very well and it is always quite moving for me as a director to watch the company from the wings. Touring really allows a company to grow in a profound way through shared experience. We were honored to have Deborah Jowitt from the Village Voice at our opening night performance. Her review can currently be found here. Also at the show was Sandra Bernhart, the fabulous comedian and a family friend. We look forward to performing in NY next season as well!
Thank you to all our friends who attended our fundraiser at Mimi's American Bistro!
Your donations helped to cover expenses for our

Dana Tai Soon Burgess & Co. in Peru
Dana Tai Soon Burgess spent six weeks in Peru this summer where his company performed Tracings and where Dana created a new work for the National Ballet of Peru collaborating with the National Young Orchestra and Peruvian visual artist, Eduardo Tokeshi. This trip, sponsored by the U.S. State Department, succeeding in providing a cultural exchange between artists from the US and Peru. Dana was artistically inspired by the cultural interaction and feels there will lasting connection and commitment between American and Peruvian dance artists.
Dana's experiences in Peru were the subject of an article entitled The Language Of Dance, Making Itself Clear in Peru in the Sunday, August 8 2004 edition of the Washington Post.
